🍃 The Pink Shoes 🌼

The Pink Shoes

Written by 🍃Shantiamyatang🌼

Walking towards a big hall which has a large door made of wood, I felt very excited to get inside. When I walked through the entrance, I felt nervous because there were many eyes from those scary men staring at me. I guessed they were security guards or might be bodyguards. I noticed that they were not allowed to wear shoes inside the hall, so I took off my pink shoes and placed them on the shoe shelf at the side by that door. When I had gotten inside the hall, I felt like I was a princess. I felt I was so lucky to be there where I could see and meet high profile individuals in that costume hall.

I looked around the hall and I wondered why I had to be here? These people were very VIP and seemed like they were delegates from different countries. A few minutes later, there was a voice calling my name “Hey, Amy! They are leaving now! Hurry up! Don’t be late!” “Oh, yes! I am going!” I said. Then I hurried to follow those high profile people. There were about ten of them wearing jackets and ties, and some were ladies with beautiful expensive dresses. I glanced at myself in my uniform in the mirror. “Ah! Based on my costume, I am sure that I am a secretary to the delegation! Ha ha! That’s cool!” I smiled and immediately walked out the room following those delegates through that same big door. The pink shoes

“Oh my god! Where is the other pair of my pink shoes? Oh god! The delegates are walking very far now and I still can’t find my right side shoe.” I was so panic and asked the security guard there. “I don’t know. If you can’t find, try checking at the main street. Someone may bring there!” A big man who had beard said.

I ran along the street with my one piece of shoes. There, I could see many shoes stores. Some shoes were new and some were second hand. At some stores, the seller hung shoes on the store’s roof, and some displayed them on the ground. I looked at each store carefully to see if my right-side pink shoe were there or not; at the same time, I was looking for those delegates walking further and further from the hall. I was like: “Oh my god! What should I do now?”

I suddenly turned my face to the left side where I saw the other side of my pink shoe. “Oh yeah! That’s the one! Yes! That’s one!” I ran quickly to that store and pointed my finger to that shoe and told the seller, “Aunty, please take this pink shoe in the plastic, down. It’s mine. I need to wear it now and hurry to go!” The seller looked at me with her wondering face while taking that shoe for me. “Miss, this shoe is not pink and it’s just similar to your shoe but it’s not the pair of yours,” the seller told me. I felt disappointed. She was right, but I still wanted to try it on my right foot. However, that shoe size was bigger than my foot, and it didn’t match with my left pair of my pink shoe. I was so upset.

” Miss, If you couldn’t find another side of your pink shoes, why don’t you buy the new pair of shoes that could fit your feet and keep going to follow those delegates? They are still not far, you still can quickly to catch them on time if you decide to take the new shoes.” The seller talked to me kindly.

I smile at her and say ” Thank you so much aunty! I think if another side of my shoe is not around here, so maybe it may still there at the same place that I first left it. Let me go back and look for it.” The seller seemed surprised with my words and quickly responded “Oh! no, so you won’t follow those high profile people? They won’t wait for you and they are walking further and further now if you stay still for the pink shoes.”

” Aunty, I can’t follow them with barefoot nor new pair of shoes.” I friendly said.

“How could this old pink shoes mean to your life? “ I heard the voice from my back while I was walking back to the hall to find the losing side of shoe. The seller kept asking many questions and I kept walking away from her store and no longer heard her voice.

🍃”Sorry aunty, some questions need time to answers, some answers need time to understand.” 🌼I smile and speak to myself.

Few minutes later I arrived home and hurried to tell everything to my husband “Honey, I lost my pink shoes….” I about to continue he cut off my words “Honey, you told me 1 time already since this morning, and now this lunch time, what’s wrong with you?” “But I just lose it now and come back home to see you for lunch, how come I told you since morning?” I wondered.

“This early morning, when you woke up you told me then you quickly back to sleep and now you just got up for lunch with your messy hair and you are trying to tell me same thing, hmmm, listen honey, your pink shoes are still here at home and you didn’t go anywhere yet! you slept whole morning and you just got up for lunch now!” My hubby said.

” Oh my god! It’s just a dream!” I said.  I really see my pink shoes are still here! I am so happy. 🙂

~She is here in my room!

She knocked the door and she told me that ” I saw his face in the photos, I heard what children said, I saw how is he look like now!” and I asked her ” how do you feel when you see him?” she said ” I feel nothing, there is no more feeling to get!” then she started to repeat me her stories and about how he did bad to her and his bad tempered to her and children….

Then I asked ” If you feel nothing with him now why you keep reminding your past? stop telling me about him and forget him as the feeling you tell me, he has nothing for you to feel about and he is old now and you too, let Karma do.”

She stopped saying and she said ” Let Karma do! ” and she walked out of my room then I said ” Please don’t be upset, don’t be disappointed, and do not think much, forgive him, forget him and let karma do!”

The door locked and I suddenly feel depressed…

“Sorry Mom, I am not that strong one like what you saw and like what I told you but I just want you to be strong like what I tried.”

A Happiness Time of Ah Nhanh

It's Me, I and Myself!

“PuTa, why don’t you go to work today?” Ah Nhanh asked her Dad. “Today is Sunday, Son!” Dad replied with a big smily face. “Ah! So why don’t you bring me for a walk, Ta?” The child quickly asked daddy. The man with some white hair came closer to his child. Touching the kid head with love, he said, ” Why not? Lets go to take the bike!” Both of them walked to the bicycle that parked at the corner of their hut.

The father was excited to take his youngest child on a trip with his old bicycle. About to depart, the man forgot something. “Oh, I forget taking my cap! Wait for me here kid, I will…

A Happiness Time of Ah Nhanh

This photo was taken on Sunday in 1991 at the Rithysen Refugee Camp, Site II, in the area of Mother and Child Care Hospital (MCH) (The father’s workplace).

Written by: Shanthiamyatang

Wait for me here kid, I will be back very soon.” PuTa of Ah Nhanh hurried to take his favourite cap which was next to his bed room.

“PuTa PuTa, hurry up, hurry up! I wanna trip!” the curly one teasing to her Dad. “I’m back. Let’s go!” The 46-year-old man said.

Sitting behind her Daddy’s back on the old bike, the 4-year-old kid hug him tight. The beautiful scenery of the Rithysen Refugee Camp, Site II, 10 District in 1991 which was located at the Khmer Thai Borders, of which the roads were full red pebble and with wonderful green plants along the way. Looking forward to their direction, we could see a long beautiful mountain. It seemed that they were riding to the mountain. “PuTa, PuTa, why only us on the red road? Where will you bring me to? PuTa! PuTa!” The curly hair kid, Ah Nhanh repeated the PuTa word many many times.

PuTa was a word that the youngest child, Ah Nhanh called her father since she was born. She was never tought or told to call her father as Daddy. The child herself didn’t even know What it meant or what was the right word to call a father.

“Oh, PuTa, PuTa! Stop the bike, please! PuTa! look back! Our dogs are chasing behind us, Ah Toeur and Ah Tak!”. The middle-age man surprised “Oh, really! Hmmm, look at them! They are so dirty!” this 46 year old man stopped his bicycle. Immediately, his child hurried to get off the bike and ran to those 2 dogs. The father couldn’t stop Ah Nhanh from running to the dogs even he knew they were so dirty.

“Well, Son! Let go to my office near here and wash them. Then you can play with them, ok?” The father quickly said to the kid while he walked bicycle and did a u-turn.

“Yeahhhh…. Ok PuTa, I’ll help you to wash them and I’ll wash myself too, can I?” The little girl with the curly whose wearing costume looked like a boy said. She was considered as a son in that family and the father liked this curly girl as his youngest son.

The father showed his big teeth when he  saw his son did enjoy playing with the dogs. Because happily playing with the dogs, this little one seemed forgetting the trip to the mountain. The trip was ended at the tank near the father’s office. They were so happy with their dogs, playing with water. Ah Toeur who was very short, had brown and black hair, small ears and Ah Tak who was taller, had white and brown hair.

There was a father’s colleague who saw them. Luckily, he had a camera with him and took a photo of this happiness moment.

This article is special written for a memory of my father, PuTa. Happy Father’s Day, June 19th, 2016.

Heart Cheats Head ~Head Lies Heart

"Sometimes, silence could improve the quality of life".

Written by Shanthiamyatang

Head says forgive,

Heart won't forget,

Feeling upset,

Cause head too kind,

Kind heart kind mind,

Kind blind too bad,

Finally turns sad,

Cause head lies heart,

Heart needs head no,

Heart wants to go,

Head asks to stay,

Heart's hurt to die,

Head says ok,

Heart has no way,

To say real words,

Head's hard to lie,

Head knows heart cry,

Head smile with tears,

Head pities heart,

But still appear,

Head acts so clear,

That head no heart,

Heart cries so hard,

Heart missed some part,

Heart can't describe,

Heart follow head,

So sad in life,

Heart says goodbye,

Let life with head.

The Girl In Pink!

Dancing and jumping around a beautiful garden happily, she didn’t aware that she was filmed. “Are you shooting a video, aren’t you?” She asked her man. “Yes! I want to keep a good memory when I see you happy like this,” he replied.

2 months later…
“The video of the girl in pink made me cry. A thousand times I watched, a thousand times my tears dropped down,” the man said…

What’s behind those tears of this man when watching this happy girl jumping and enjoying with nature at that garden? It’s beautiful memory and wonderful moment, isn’t it?

“Whenever I see animals, I miss you; especially, I can’t forget the day that you dressed in pink and were playing with two adorable dogs.” he added…

Why are these memories so influential? Why do the memories affect your daily life? Why do people need to have memories? Where does memory come from?

From his point of view, memory is a story that happened in the past and recorded it in his mind, which can’t be formatted forever. Memory is very effective medicine that had saved his relationship life. Both good and bad memories belong to him for life. Theses memories have helped him make his life decision in a right way. Without them, he has no clue to continue or to quit. He really thanks to those memories. Finally, he is really grateful for the good and bad memories that are always by his side and has always guided him silently where to move next. Thanks! Memories. Love you, memories.

“Learn To Be A Tree”

Learn To Be A Tree

By Shanthiamyatang

When you meet many people you learn many things, too. Human being is very complicated.

I wonder how 2 people have different feelings toward another person who sits in front of them. One thinks that this man is so stupid and the other thinks that this man looks so pitiful.

Life is not a drama. In real life, you will be noted if you are over acting to other and people easily judge you. Once you just being humble and being aware of every thing you speak out, and think before you say.

Learning to be patient is the best. Buddha said you should learn from the tree. Tree never siad he is hot in dry season. He never said cold in winter, he never said give up when having storm or flood. He always stand there despite of any season and disaster. And he only spreads shade and O2 and CO2 to the earth and leaves green leaves for animals’ food.

Trees motivate me to be strong and be patient when I’m down and hopeless. I am not crazy but I find my way to motivate myself. When you feel down, please look around you! Look for a tree. When you see it, smile!

“A Pitiful Man on Earth”

By Shanthiamyatang

A: I am sorry for his bad attitude to you! He is always like that and no one likes him.

B: What a pity! I can’t believe there is such kind of person on earth. I really pity him.

A: Ah! Why pity him? You should be upset and get angry with him because he looked down on you.

B: Yes, I am upset but not quite long because I can read his character then I feel pity him more and more! Hmmm

A: He has nothing to make you pity him. But he has so many things that make people upset with him.

B: Because of this reason, I feel that way. Don’t you feel how pitiful he is when we know that his behaviors make people around him upset and hate him, yet he himself doesn’t know that and keeps doing the same things to upset others? Pity him that he couldn’t see himself as what other people around him could see him. He should be told to develop himself for better but unfortunately, it will not be effective to the person who closes their mind. So I only can say “A pity man on earth!”

A: You are right! I feel pity him now and I forgive what he did bad to me because I know he doesn’t have what we have. We are lucky that we don’t miss that part of mind.

B: Tell others if you understand that. Stop thinking bad on him and just quiet and have peace when he does bad attitude or looks down on you. We hope this method could help him to change his bad attitude to us.

Dad: look at your daughter! She doesn’t respect me and she’s rude to me now!

Mom: I am sorry for that.

Dad: You have to teach her.

Mom: Ok….

_____Along an alley_____
Tears dropping down, the girl walks slowly. She feels hopeless and depressed.

In her black short curly hair, blue loose long Jean, red loose short T-shirt and black loose flipflop, she continues her walking without destination.

Suddenly, there is an old man who has been sitting in a Reu Mork Kong Bei (3-wheel taxi) speaking to her, “Hey, girl! You will look more beautiful if you stop crying and start smilling! Don’t you feel that you are different and unique?” The girl replies with tears, “But my dad always said I am so urgly and different from everyone!” An old man responses, “You are beautiful! Everyone was born in their own beautiful way! Come here, I give you something.” The girl goes and that man gives her a box. The girl opens it and says, “It is mirror! Why you give me this?” The man smiles and says, “I just want to proof you that you are beautiful! Look at yourself and smile. You will see happiness and hope!” He continues, “Don’t be upset with your parents, but be happy with yourself! Do what you want to do and let your parents see your successes.” The girl smiles and in the meantime the Reu Mork driver pops up from nowhere and drives that man away.

After that vehicle has gone, the girl looks at that mirror and says “Yes! I’m beautiful and I know it!”.

The bracelet

Knock knock knock…

I turned my face to right side, following the sound. There stood a young girl who was about 12 years old. She had messy hair and dirty white dress. She knocked on the glass of my car’s window and said something but I couldn’t hear. She knocked again and pointed to something inside the car. Her face looked very sad. I thought she may asked for some money.

As the traffic light was still red, I decided to turn down the mirror of the car and asked her “what did you say and point to?” “I want your bracelet,” she said and pointed to the bracelets I was wearing on my left hand. “Please give me one of yours. I need it”, she added with pity face.

I felt weird. I generally drive this way to work and see some boys and girls selling jasmine, except this young girl and I was wrong she didnt want money.

“Here you are, I give you as your wish,” because she is so pitiful I took off one bracelet and gave it to her (the one she pointed to). “Thank you!” She said. I smiled at her and she looked so happy with the bracelet on her right hand wrist. After getting it, she seemed not to pay attention to me at all. She then walked away.

Tiiit Tiiit. (A sound of horning behind my car!) “Oops! Green light!” I said. I rushed to move my car forward and I glanced at the right rear mirror to look for her but she had gone.

Few minutes later, I started to think about something. Immediately I got goose bumps. I remembered a dream related to that bracelet.

” It’s mine! It’s mine!” A girl with a long hair and white dress shouted. “No, it’s mine! I bought it from a boy!” I said. She caught my hand and tried to took the bracelet from me as I tried to get away from her. “I lost it at the beach! It’s my boyfriend’s gift. It’s mine! Give me back!” She shouted angrily.

I woke up and felt nervous because of that argument in the dream. I turned on my reading lamp light and immediately looked at my bracelets on the jewelry desk. “Hmm, what a scary dream!” I thought. Since then I couldn’t sleep.

Let’s turn back to the reality. Because of that young girl on the street who wanted the bracelet that I used to dream about, it was really weird and gave me goose bumps. What if that young girl on the street and that long hair and white dress girl in my dream were the same person? OH MY BUDDHA! I can’t continue to write my story now because I get goose bumps again now!

The End
